boca grande farmers market develops newest concierge delivery service

Years ago when I lived in the Florida Keys, we were amazed at the cruise ships coming up to port at Mile Marker 0. Not so much by their size or the colorful array of vacationers, but more by the sheer force and numbers of goods being taken off vessel and the sometimes the very odd items being brought back onboard. Often by forklifts. Occasionally in the middle of the night.

Like the ebb and flow of this kind of microcosmic activity, truly it takes time and energy to acquire things these days, and let’s face it, we’d all rather be swimming, sunning, sailing and scoring. Through this last Season 1 (2014/2015), Boca Grande Farmers Market received many requests for items and services to be delivered to a person, a place, a party, or a purpose.

So sure, call our new service a delivery one if you will. I assure you, Gophers: Groceries & Goods is more than just bringing items to you. Gophers, launching in Season 2 (2014/2015), will be about sourcing the very finest items both from market and from our own trusted findings. Using a discerning eye and our sometimes crazy wit to bring all islanders the best of well….just about everything.  Especially where it concerns gourmet and epicurean specialty foods, or difficult to find artisan craft products, or high-quality services obtained on and off-island.

Gophers is a nod to the trading post of yesteryear. We are mindful that Boca Grande was built in part from those trading tourism through railroad and those exchanging phosphorous through transport. In that spirit, Gophers is part concierge and courier service, part gal or guy Friday, and part personal provisions secret weapon. No more empty shelves in the home, condo, or boat when you arrive on Gasparilla Island. No more searching for the perfect golf ball, girls day out sitter, or dinner gift. No more scrambling. Ever. Again.

Look for more about Gophers soon! It will be our perfect pleasure to serve you. After all, sometimes a squirrel finds a nut.
